At the heart of Transform Agency is the sensibility of the critic. Since 1997, the two principals have been analyzing and deconstructing websites, ezines, online advertisements, and even unsolicited emails, figuring out what went wrong (or right) and why: “The left navigation was confusing.” “The home page was cluttered.” “They were doing great until right HERE.” “Their JavaScript crashed my browser.” This sort of thing.
Coming from a background of psychology, visual arts, and commercial writing and marketing, it seemed natural to find ourselves working on the Web. A website is theater. It’s about marketing and branding. And, there’s a great deal of psychology mixed in. What motivates? How to convey subtle meaning? A copywriting background was eminently applicable: use the active voice, know your audience, don’t mix metaphors — what a wonderful and inspiring medium!
From building several successful Web businesses of our own, we branched out into developing sites, software, and marketing campaigns for others. Over the years, we were fortunate to find like-minded creative and technical staff who shared our vision of websites with clarity and of software that was mercilessly quality tested. Our team members come to the Web with a genuine interest (and some advanced degrees thrown in) to do great work. They’re methodical people who love to solve problems in unconventional ways. Conventional wisdom is, after all, merely average. ;-)
